A B S T R A C T Process for the continuous removal of acidic components from lower boiling point hydrocarbons in a liquid phase by contacting them in an extractor 10 with a solvent which contains at most 30% w of water, flashing the hydrocarbons absorbed by the solvent at reduced pressure in a flash-vessel 34, and recycling them to the extractor 10 after reliquefaction. The treated hydro- carbons emerging from the extractor are preferably water-washed.
