ABSTRACT The present invention provides a process for the determination of glycerol, wherein glycerol is incubated in an aqueous medium in the presence of oxygen with galactose oxidase and either the oxygen consumption or the hydrogen peroxide or glyceraldehyde formed are determined. The present invention also provides a reagent for the determination of glycerol, which comprises galactose oxidase and a system for the determination of hydrogen peroxide or a system for the determination of glyceraldehyde.
