A process for monitoring and controlling reactor conditions during the production of acetic acid by catalyzed carbonylation of methanol is provided. The process of the present invention comprises measuring the density of the heavy phase of the light ends distillation column in the purification system of the carbonylation process. The density measurement is used to adjust the feed of methanol and/or regulate the temperature in the reaction zone to optimize reactor conditions. The density measurement may also be used to adjust other parameters in the reactor system. The invention is also directed to the system for manufacturing acetic acid based on the process control procedure described.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de surveillance et de commande des conditions d'un réacteur lors de la production d'acide acétique par carbonylation catalysée de méthanol. Le procédé selon l'invention consiste à mesurer la densité de la phase lourde de la colonne de distillation des fractions légères du système de purification du processus de carbonylation. La mesure de la densité sert à ajuster la charge de méthanol et/ou à réguler la température dans la zone de réaction pour optimiser les conditions du réacteur. La mesure de la densité peut également servir à ajuster d'autres paramètres dans le système de réacteur. Cette invention se rapporte également au système de production d'acide acétique reposant sur la procédure de commande de processus présentée.
