Wood pulp (10) is bleached using hydrogen peroxide as the oxidative bleaching agent in the presence of magnesium hydroxide (18) or magnesium oxide (18). The bleaching process is carried out in the presence of magnesium hydroxide as the predominant, and preferably essential, source of alkali. The process optionally includes transition metal chelants (8), such as DTPA or EDTA in the bleaching slurry. The process eliminates the need for added caustic and silicate in such systems and can be carried out at or nearpH of 5.0 to 8.5.
L'invention concerne un procédé de blanchiment de pâte de bois (10) utilisant du peroxyde d'hydrogène comme agent de blanchiment oxydant, en présence d'hydroxyde de magnésium (18) ou d'oxyde de magnésium (18). Le procédé de blanchiment est mis en oeuvre en présence d'hydroxyde de magnésium comme source d'alcali principale, et de préférence essentielle. Le procédé comprend éventuellement des agents chélatants à métal de transition (8), tels que DTPA ou EDTA dans la suspension de blanchiment. Le procédé permet d'éviter l'ajout de matière caustique et de silicate dans de ces systèmes, et peut être mis en oeuvre à un pH d'environ 5,0 à 8,5.
