A process is disclosed for the efficient recovery of oil from oilseed materials without the use of organic solvents. In the process, the oilseed starting material is first expelled to remove a portion of the total oil. The expelled cake retains the remainder of the oil from the starting seed. This cake is slurried in water and the pH of the slurry is adjusted to pH > 8 with an alkaline compound. This pH adjustment results in release of oil from binding to other compounds and structures in the slurry. The slurry is then processed through a solids-liquid separation to produce a protein-enriched solids phase and an oil-in- water liquid phase. The liquid phase is then further processed to separate the oil from the water and recover the oil as free oil. The recovered oil can then be added to the expelled oil.
L'invention concerne un procédé pour la récupération efficace d'huile à partir de graines oléagineuses sans utilisation de solvants organiques. Dans le procédé, les graines oléagineuses comme matières de départ sont tout d'abord pressées pour éliminer une partie de l'huile totale. Le gâteau pressé conserve le reste de l'huile des graines de départ. Ce gâteau est mis en bouillie dans l'eau, et le pH de la bouillie est ajusté à pH > 8 par un composé alcalin. Cet ajustement de pH conduit à libérer l'huile de sa liaison à d'autres composés et structures dans la bouillie. La bouillie est ensuite traitée par une séparation des solides et du liquide pour donner une phase de matières solides enrichies en protéine et une phase liquide d'huile dans l'eau. La phase liquide est ensuite traitée une nouvelle fois pour séparer l'huile de l'eau et récupérer l'huile sous la forme d'huile libre. L'huile récupérée peut ensuite être ajoutée à l'huile pressée.
