ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A roller-mandrel-thrust-bending process (RDSB process) is used to bend metal hollow profiles. A hollow profile that is to be bent has its inner space filled and introduced into a bending station consisting of a plurality of bending rollers, the hollow profile being bent as a result of the movement of the bending rollers in the bending plane. In order to retain the advantages of the roll-bending process while avoiding the high costs of this process, provision is made that the hollow profile of the workpiece is filled by a base mandrel and that the work piece is introduced into the bending station under the action of a thrust force. The work piece that is to be bent is forced over the fixed mandrel within the bending zone as a result of this thrust force and the frictional force of the profiled rollers, and bent in the X-Y-Z plane by the action of the bending station.
