Abstract of the Disclosure A process for bleaching a cellulose-containing vegetable material which comprises chlorinstion of a cellulose-contain- ing vegetable material, followed by alkali-treatment, post- bleaching and washing between stages; said cellulose-con- taining material is treated, prior to the chlorination stage, with a product of interaction of inorganic reagents recove- red from the waste waters resulting from the stages of chlo- rination and alkali treatment or from the alkali-treatment stage. The bleached pulp produced by this process is useful in the production of various articles in the pulp-paper in- dustry.
