ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Particle agglomeration during fluidized bed calcination of liquid acidic radioactive wastes containing sodium nitrate is prevented by the addition of iron to the acidic liquid waste before calcining. The calcine formed is inert and can be further processed for solid waste storage.
