17 ABSTRACT The present invention provides a process for producing a double-layered slab by pouring molten metals 13A, 14 each having a composition different from the other into a molten metal pool 1A and a molten metal pool 1B, respectively, which are an upper and a lower pool separated by a direct current magnetic field zone 2A provided to a mold 1. An alloy wire 12 is inserted in a short immersion nozzle 4 provided to a tundish 3 for continuous casting via a through-hole in a tundish stopper 6, and the wire 12 is melted within the nozzle 4 and mixed to give a molten metal 4 having a uniform concentration. The molten metal is fed into the upper molten metal pool 1A from the pouring hole of the short nozzle 4, and a molten metal 13 is fed into the lower molten metal pool 1B without further processing from a long immersion nozzle 5 provided to the tundish 3 for continuous casting. Molten metals in the respective pools are cooled and solidified.
