ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a process for casting metal, using one or more sand-moulds in the form of shells solidified by a chemical reaction, characterized in that the outer surfaces of said moulds are quenching- medium-repellent, and the said shells, containing molten metal, are quenched from the outside with a suitable quenching medium in the form of a liquid or a vapour, either during the filling operation thereof or shortly thereafter.
