S P E C I F I C A T I O N IMPROVED PROCESS FOR CASTING MOLTEN METAL IN CASTING MACHINES HAVING AT LEAST ONE CASTING BELT Inventor : John M. A. Dompas ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a process of casting metal in a casting machine wherein at least one endless casting belt revolves around pulleys and passes along a casting zone from its input end to its output end and wherein the casting belt during its travel from the out- put end to the input end receives on its casting side a layer of a parting agent dispersed in a liquid the improvement is disclosed which comprises heating the casting belt during said travel to such an extent that the parting agent which enters into the casting zone is thermally stable in that zone, whereby porosity in the cast metal is reduced. The belt is heated over its entire width by electrical or hot air heating devices, and water sprays are used to cool the cast metal issuing from the casting machine. Any cooling water which might adhere to the belt is wiped off prior to application of the parting agent and heating thereof.
