ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Organic and colloidal impurities are removed from an aqueous dispersion or pulp slurry, for example newsprint is deinked, by adding to the dispersion or slurry at least one surfactant in an amount sufficient for the formation of a micellar solution containing the organic and colloidal impurities. Thereafter the micelles are precipitated and the precipitate is removed by flotation, sedimentation, centrifugation or filtration.
