A method for coating paperboard (14) comprising heating paperboard (14) to a temperature sufficient to remove at least some moisture from the paperboard (14) at a heating station (20); applying an aqueous dispersion of at least one water--dispersible polymer to the paperboard (14) at a coating station (24); heating the paperboard (14) to at least partially cure the water-dispersible polymer atdrying stations (26, 30); and cooling the paperboard (14) to at least 160 degrees Fahrenheit to reduce the tackiness of the cured water-dispersible polymer.

L'invention porte sur un procédé de couchage de papier (14) consistant à le porter à une température suffisante pour en éliminer au moins une partie de l'humidité, puis à lui appliquer une dispersion d'au moins un polymère dispersible dans l'eau dans un poste de couchage (24), puis à le porter à une température suffisante pour faire durcir au moins partiellement ledit polymère dans un poste de séchage (26, 30), puis à le ramener au moins à 160 DEG F pour réduire le collant du polymère.
