"PROCESS FOR CONTACTING LIQUIDS WITH GASES" A B S T R A C T The invention relates to a process for contacting liquids with gases by introducing a coherent liquid jet via a nozzle at high speed into the liquid through the gas layer. According to the invention the liquid jet is issued out of the nozzle at a velocity of 20-38 m/s and a Reynolds number of at least 400,000 and the free path length of the liquid jet is maintained at a value of at least 15 times the diameter of the liquid jet. The process according to the invention makes it possible to contact liquids with gases in a simple and inexpensive way and with an increased rate of mass transfer and lower energy consumption than hitherto.
