The invention relates to a process for the continuous purification of crude bisphenol which comprises (1) forming a single liquid phase comprising a hot mixture of crude bisphenol and water in a ratio substantially of from 75% to 85% weight of crude bisphenol to 15% to 25% weight water; (2) continuously feeding this mixture together with a stream of warm water to a first crystallization zone at a temperature sufficient to maintain a bisphenol-rich liquid phase, a water-rich phase and a crystalline phase comprising 70% to 95% of the total bisphenol in the mixture; (3) passing the three-phase mixture of bisphenol and water to a second crystallization zone operated at 85 °C to 97 °C until 90% to 99% of the total bisphenol is crystallized; and (4) recovering the purified bisphenol crystals.

La présente invention porte sur un procédé pour la purification en continu de bisphénol brut, consistant à : 1) former une phase liquide simple, comprenant le mélange chaud de bisphénol brut et d'eau dans un rapport proche de 75-85 % en poids de bisphénol brut et de 15-25 % en poids d'eau; 2) introduire en continu ce mélange avec un flux d'eau chaude dans une première zone de cristallisation à une température suffisante pour conserver une phase liquide riche en bisphénol, une phase riche en eau et une phase cristalline renfermant de 70 à 95 % du bisphénol total dans le mélange; 3) faire passer le mélange triphasique de bisphénol et d'eau dans une seconde zone de cristallisation, à une température de 85-97 degrés C, jusqu'à ce que 90 à 99 % du bisphénol total soit cristallisé; 4) récupérer les cristaux de bisphénol purifié.
