ABSTRACT A process for hot isostatic pressing comminuted material in a pressure vessel, the process comprising the steps of: loading the material into an envelope; placing the envelope with the material into a receptacle; surrounding the envelope in the receptacle with a pressure transfer medium; positioning the receptacle with the envelope and tranfer medium in the cavity of the pressure vessel; and applying heat and pressure to the tranfer medium in the receptacle at levels and for such time as is sufficient to compact the comminuted material into a substantially solid body.
