A method for converting hydrocarbons into aromatic compounds, and particularly for catalytically reforming petrols and producing aromatic compounds from paraffinic and naphthenic hydrocarbons, wherein the feedstock to be processed is contacted with a catalyst which includes a matrix consisting of a mixture of transition alumina ? and transition alumina .gamma., and at least one doping metal selected from the group which consists of titanium, zirconium, hafnium, cobalt, nickel, zinc and lanthanides, at least one halogen selected from the group which consists of fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine, at least one noble metal from the platinum family, and at least one promoter metal selected from the group which consists of tin, germanium, indium, gallium, thallium, antimony, lead, rhenium, manganese, chromium, molybdenum and tungsten.

L'invention concerne un procédé de transformation d'hydrocarbures en composés aromatiques, en particulier de reformage catalytique des essences et de production de composés aromatiques à partir d'hydrocarbures paraffiniques et naphténiques, procédé dans lequel la charge à traiter est soumise à l'action d'un catalyseur. Ce catalyseur comprend une matrice constituée d'un mélange d'alumine de transition , et d'alumine de transition .gamma. et: au moins un métal dopant choisi dans le groupe constitué par le titane, le zirconium, l'hafnium, le cobalt, le nickel, le zinc et les lanthanides; au moins un halogène choisi dans le groupe formé par le fluor, le chlore, le brome et l'iode; au moins un métal noble de la famille du platine; et au moins un métal promoteur choisi dans le groupe formé par l'étain, le germanium, l'indium, le gallium, le tallium, l'antimoine, le plomb, le rhénium, le manganèse, le chrome, le molybdène et le tungstène.
