In order to convey thick matter and solids together and substantially continuously, the invention proposes that the thick matter be forced by a conveyor piston (4) of a piston pump (2) from a feed container (6) into a conveyor cylinder (8) and to cut off solids projecting beyond an inlet (16) in the conveyor line (8) with the conveyor piston (4), its forward face (12) entering the conveyor cylinder being fitted for that purpose with cutting means (14, 24) co- operating with cutting means (18, 22) in the region of the inlet aperture (16).
