A process for copolymerizing ethylene with vinylsilanes is disclosed. The process uses a Ziegler-Natta catalyst and cocatalyst wherein the Ziegler-Natta catalyst is prepared from a Group 4-6 halogen-containing transition metal and a mixture of an organomagnesium compound and a silicon-containing compound. Silane-functionalized polyolefins produced using the process can be crosslinkable and can be used to bond polyolefins to polysiloxanes or other functionalized polymers.

L'invention concerne un procédé de copolymérisation d'éthylène avec des vinylsilanes. Le procédé utilise un catalyseur de Ziegler-Natta et un cocatalyseur. Le catalyseur de Ziegler-Natta est préparé à partir d'un métal de transition contenant un halogène des groupes 4-6 et d'un mélange comprenant un composé organomagnésien et un composé contenant du silicium. Les polyoléfines à fonctionnalité silane produites à l'aide de ce procédé peuvent être réticulées et servir à lier des polyoléfines à des polysiloxanes ou à d'autres polymères fonctionnalisés.
