A process corrects geometric errors in the transfer of information without mechanical intervention on the printing form, to compensate for the errors that occur and thus attain optimized print quality prior to imaging. The corrections are visually indiscernible, so that the artifacts created in the printed result by the corrections do not stand out in the image. A device-independent description of the page information to be printed is converted by a Raster Imaging Process into at least one device-dependent digital matrix. Each matrix with m rows and n columns contains the information for a certain color to be printed. After the individual matrices are produced, they are supplied to a matrix manipulation device, which subjects each matrix to a correction transformation using specific parameters. After the matrices are adjusted, they are supplied by a matrix transfer device to the digital imaging devices in the printing mechanisms.
Un processus corrige les erreurs géométriques faites au cours du transfert d'information, sans intervention mécanique sur la forme d'impression, afin de compenser les erreurs commises et ainsi obtenir une qualité d'impression optimale avant la présentation des données en image. Les corrections sont indiscernables, de sorte que les résidus créés par les corrections sur l'impression ne se distinguent pas de l'image. Une description, non tributaire du type d'unité de l'information de la page à imprimer, est convertie par un processus d'images tramées en au moins une matrice numérique tributaire du type d'unité. Chaque matrice comportant m rangées et n colonnes contient l'information pour une certaine couleur à imprimer. Une fois que les matrices individuelles sont produites, elles sont transmises à un dispositif de manipulation de matrices qui soumet ces dernières à une transformation par correction en utilisant des paramètres spécifiques. Une fois les matrices corrigées, elles sont transmises aux dispositifs d'imagerie numérique dans les mécanismes d'impression au moyen d'un dispositif de transfert des matrices.
