This invention relates to a process for crystallizing and solid state polymerizing polymers, in the form of amorphous pellets by coating the pellets with a coating of 50 to 250 ppm of an anti-sticking agent to the amorphous pellets. The invention also relates to such a coated pellet. The coated pellet is then heated such that its surface is at least partially crystallized or essentially crystallized. Next it is solid state polymerize to a high molecular weight. The capacity of the crystallization and solid state polymerization process can be increased by using higher temperatures when the anti-sticking agent is present as compared to a normal process using the same polymer. The preferred anti-sticking agents are chosen to give high clarity to articles made from the high molecular weight pellet. The preferred anti- sticking agent is fumed silica, but other organic and inorganic coatings may be used.

Cette invention concerne un procédé servant à faire cristalliser et à polymériser à l'état solide des polymères, sous la forme de granulés amorphes en enduisant les granulés d'un revêtement de 50 à 250 ppm d'un agent anti-collant sur les granulés amorphes. L'invention concerne également un tel granulé enduit. On chauffe ensuite le granulé enduit, d'une façon telle que sa surface soit au moins partiellement cristallisée ou essentiellement cristallisée. Ensuite on le polymérise à l'état solide jusqu'à un poids moléculaire élevé. On peut accroître la capacité du procédé de cristallisation et de polymérisation à l'état solide en utilisant des températures plus élevées lorsque l'agent anti-collant est présent par rapport à un procédé normal utilisant le même polymère. Les agents anti-collants préférés sont choisis pour donner une clarté élevée aux articles formés à partir du granulé de poids moléculaire élevé. La silice fumée est l'agent anti-collant préféré, mais on peut utiliser d'autres revêtements organiques et inorganiques.
