The process is carried out at a liquor ratio of 1:3 to 1:50, in the presence of a thioamide, thiocarbamide, thio- carbamate or dithiocarbamate, advantageously with the concurrent use of an organic cyclic compound containing keto and/or hydroxyl groups, in particular anthraquinone or 2-methyl-anthraquinone.
