- 6 - ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a process for depolymeriz- ing and dehalogenating rubber materials by heating the rubber materi- als with neutral liquid water at temperatures from about 200°C up to the critical temperature of water at autogenous pressure. The process has utility in degrading rubber materials, and further does not release hydrogen halogen into a gas phase.
