A process for desulfurizing a catalytically cracked gasoline containing sulfur compounds and olefin components which comprises hydrodesulfurizing the gasoline with a catalyst. The catalyst comprises a support containing (i) alumina as a main component and (ii) an alkali metal in an amount of 0.2 to 3.0% by weight of the support. At least one active metal selected from the group consisting of chromium, cobalt, nickel, molybdenum and tungsten is provided on the support.
