ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for improving the dispersibility of inorganic and organic pigments and fillers which comprises contacting said pigments and fillers with (a) aminoalkanols of the formulae Image (I) or Image (II), wherein R1 is alkyl having 6 to 22 carbon atoms, R2 is hydrogen or methyl, provided there is only one methyl group per (CH)x group, R3 and R11 are the same or different and are hydrogen, alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or hydroxyalkyl having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, x is an integer of from 2 to 6 and y is an integer of from 0 to 3, with the proviso that, if y is 0, R3 and R4 are not both hydrogen, or (b) salts, (c) alkoxylation products, and (d) quaternization products of said aminoalkanols, and recovering highly dispersible pigments and fillers. -A-
