ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process or dyeing and printing nitrogen-containing natural fibrous materials by means of mordant dyes. The process is characterized in that fibres are impregnated with an aqueous composition containing the dye in a soluble or dispersible form, a hexavalent chromium salt, an agent capable of reducing chromium from valence 6 to valence 3 and products suited to ameliorate the fixation of the dye to the fibre after storing in the wet state for at least 1 hour at temperatures from 15 to 50°C. This process permits dyeing and printing of wool with dyes usually called mordant dyes. The dyeing and printing of wool obtained according to this process are provided with excellent general stabilities.
