A method of producing an aluminum picture frame having two regions of different colors is disclosed. According to a preferred embodiment, aluminum frame stock is coated with a colored maskant or paint. Selective regions of the coated frame stock are abraded thereby exposing bare aluminum in these selective regions. The abraded frame stock is then anodized. In a third embodiment, the aluminum frame stock is first etched, anodized (50) and dyed a first color (52). Selective areas of the frame stock are then protected using an etch-resistant mask (54). The colored, masked frame stock is then etched (56) so that the unmasked regions become stripped of the first color, thereby exposing the aluminum surface. The frame stock is then anodized (58) again and dyed a second color (60) so that the unmasked regions absorb the second color. The mask is then chemically removed (62), thereby exposing the underlying first color located adjacent the second color.
L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'un cadre d'image en aluminium comportant deux zones de couleurs différentes. Selon un mode de réalisation préféré, le cadre préfabriqué en aluminium est revêtu d'une peinture ou d'un masquant coloré. Des zones sélectionnées du cadre préfabriqué revêtu sont abrasées, exposant ainsi l'aluminium nu dans ces zones-là. Le cadre préfabriqué abrasé est ensuite anodisé. Dans un troisième mode de réalisation, le cadre préfabriqué en aluminium est avant tout gravé, anodisé (50) et teinté dans une première couleur (52). Des zones sélectionnées du cadre préfabriqué sont ensuite protégées au moyen d'un masque résistant aux éraflures (54). Le cadre préfabriqué masqué et coloré est ensuite gravé (56) de manière que les zones non masquées soient démontées de la première couleur, exposant ainsi la surface en aluminium. Le cadre préfabriqué est ensuite anodisé (58) une nouvelle fois et teint dans une seconde couleur (60) de manière que les zones non masquées absorbent la seconde couleur. Le masque est ensuite chimiquement retiré (62) exposant ainsi la première couleur sous-jacente située à proximité de la seconde.
