ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for recovering gallium from alkaline gallium-containing solutions which are formed, for example during the production of alumina and aluminum. The process consists in electrochemically reducing gallium on molten materials selected from the group comprising gallium, an alloy of gallium and aluminum, and an alloy of gallium, aluminum and zinc, in a variable electromagnetic field having an intensity of 1,500 to 500,000 amps/metre. With this process it is possible to obtain a purer metal and to have continuous processing with controlled intensity.
