A B S T R A C T Process for filling a reactor with homogeneous bed(s) of catalyst particles by bringing the particles in incipient fluidization in the reactor, followed by settling. Preferably the particles are of uniform size, which can be achieved by fluidizing a mixture of particles of non-uniform size in a separate container, and, after settling, removing the upper layer of smaller particles. From the container the particles with uniform size are transported to the reactor as a slurry.
