Abstract of the Disclosure A process for fireproofing polyester fibers is provided in which a substituted mono- or disulphurylamide of the formula Image n-1 Image Image 2-n wherein n is 1 or 2. R are aromatic, cycloaliphatic or aliphatic radicals or hydrogen and A is alkylene or an ammonium salt of such a sulphurylamide is applied to the fiber material which is then dried and subjected to a heat treatment. The sulphurylamide may also be applied in the presence of a dispersant, a protective colloid and/or water. The composition of matter for performing this process is also provided.
