PROCESS FOR HEAT SEALING THERMOPLASTIC FILM AND APPARATUS THEREFOR ABSTRACT A process for heat sealing together two or three moving, superimposed thermoplastic films employs at least one heated gas stream which is directed against at least one of the films. The apparatus for carrying out this process comprises a gas source; gas propulsion means; gas heating means; an orifice for projecting a narrow stream of heated gas; means for adjusting rate of projection and temperature of the gas as well as the rate of transport of the films so as to effect scaling; and a pressure-equalizing plate to prevent films from being disturbed from their position of intended bonding by unequal pressures.
