- 1 - Abstract: A process is described for hydrocracking heavy hydrocarbon oils in which the heavy oil is contacted with a two-component catalyst under high severity conditions. The two-component catalyst includes: (a) a hydrogenation/stabilization agent in the form of dry particles of an iron salt, e.g. iron sulphate, and (b) a hydrotreating component in the form of group VI or group VIII elements supported on particles of alumina or silica/alumina.
