A method for hydroxycarbonylating pentenoic acids, wherein one or more pentenoic acids are hydroxycarbonylated into adipic acid with carbon monoxide and water in the presence of an iridium and/or rhodium based catalyst and at least one iodated promoter; the resulting reaction mixture is refined, optionally after having been concentrated, to separate at least a portion of the catalyst; and the catalyst thus separated is recycled in a pentenoic acid, butadiene or butadiene derivative hydroxycarbonylation process.

L'invention a pour objet un procédé d'hydroxycarbonylation d'acides penténoïques, caractérisé en ce que: l'on hydroxycar- bonyle un ou plusieurs acides penténoïques en acide adipique, par le monoxyde de carbone et l'eau, en présence d'un catalyseur a base d'iridium et/ou de rhodium et d'au moins un promoteur iodé, le mélange réactionnel obtenu est soumis à une opération de raffinage, après avoir éventuellement été concentré, permettant de séparer au moins une partie du catalyseur, le catalyseur ainsi séparé est recyclé dans une opération d'hydroxycarbonylation d'acides penténoïques, du butadiène ou de dérivés du butadiène.
