ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The application of certain saturated, lower ali- phatic dicarboxylic acids and salts thereof has been found to be effective in achieving soil structure improvements. When added to soil, improvements are obtained in moisture- holding capacity, permeability and aggregate stability, as well as in seedling emergence and soil erosion control. Further, when presently cultivated soil is treated with the nutrient-containing salts of the invention, plants are provided with additional nutrients necessary for adequate plant growth.
