ABSTRACT PROCESS FOR IMPROVING THE DYEABILITY OF FABRICS AND FIBERS The printability and/or dyeability of fabrics or fibers comprising polyhydroxylized polymers is improved by treating a dry causticized fabric or fiber with a dilute solution of an ammonium salt of Formula I or II: Image (I) Image (II) and mixtures thereof, wherein R, R', R'' and R''' are C1- C10; X is sulfate, sulfonate or halide; and Z is selected from sulfate, sulfonate and halide . After wetting to a water content of less than 50 percent by weight, the wetted fabric or fiber is heated to fix the ammonium salt.
