ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A sulphur pilling tower thereby liquid sulphur is solidified in a counter-current stream is provided with heating elements in the outlet for the counter current air, on which the dust laden air impinges. The sulphur emissions are reduced by causing the sulphur dust to melt on contact with the heating elements so as to change into liquid droplets and fall back into the tower for solidification.
