Lofty battings are prepared by a process involving carding to make one or more webs of fibers, preferably using a blend of mechanically-crimped filling fibers with bicomponent fibers of helical configuration, and that preferably also contains binder fibers, the fiber orientations preferably being randomized in the web(s) before cross-lapping to build up the batt, and preferably followed by spraying with resin and curing, thus providing a bonded batt in which the loft is improved by the presence of the different crimp configurations and/or randomized orientations that are fixed in the fibers in the bonded batt.
Des formations de nappes en fibres à torsion floche sont obtenues selon un procédé consistant à carder, en une ou plusieurs nappes de fibres, un mélange constitué de préférence de fibres de remplissage mécaniquement vrillées et de fibres bi-composants à configuration hélicoïdale, ce mélange contenant de préférence également des fibres de liaison. Les orientations des fibres font l'objet de préférence d'une orientation aléatoire dans la nappe (les nappes) avant le rubanage croisé permettant de constituer la nappe pour ouatinage. Ces opérations sont de préférence suivies de la pulvérisation d'une résine et d'une opération de durcissage. On obtient ainsi une nappe de ouatinage liée dans laquelle le gonflant est accru par la présence des différentes configurations de vrillage et/ou des différentes orientations aléatoires qui deviennent définitives dans les fibres une fois que la nappe de ouatinage est liée.
