PROCESS FOR MAKING AN IMAGING MEDIUM SOLUTION ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A special process for making an imaging medium solution suitable for use in the formation of ablative imaging media such as video discs, microlithographic films, and chemical etch resist- type films. A thoroughly-mixed dye dispersion is filtered and added to a thoroughly mixed nitrocel- lulose solution, to form an imaging medium solution that is, in turn, nitrocellulose heated to a temperature of 50°C for a time duration of at least one hour. After cooling to room temperature, the resultant imaging medium colloidal solution has a highly stabilized viscosity and can be used to form films of precise, uniform thicknesses.
