A process for making a clad article of a densified metal powder core and a compatible metal cladding metallurgically bonded thereto results in a significantly reduced concentration of metal oxides in the core so as to prevent embrittlement of the core at and adjacent the core/cladding interface that results in rupture between the core and the cladding along the interface during working ox forming. In carrying out the process, the temperature of the undensified metal powder and/or the temperature of the compatible metal container into which the metal powder is filled are closely controlled so as to avoid adsorption of moisture during the filling step.

Procédé de fabrication d'un article plaqué composé d'un noyau de poudre de métal densifiée et d'un placage de métal compatible lié par procédé métallurgique audit noyau, permettant d'obtenir une concentration fortement réduire d'oxydes métalliques dans le noyau, ceci empêchant la fragilisation du noyau au niveau de l'interface entre le noyau et le placage et à proximité de cette dernière qui provoque la rupture entre le noyau et le placage sur la longueur de l'interface au cours de l'usinage ou du formage. Dans ce procédé, la température de la poudre de métal non densifiée et/ou la température du conteneur de métal compatible qu'on remplit de poudre de métal, sont précisément régulées afin d'éviter l'adsorption d'humidité au cours de l'étape de remplissage.
