A process for making derivatized polymers of maleic anhydride containing maleamic acid and its corresponding cyclic imide repeat units, in alcohol solution, at a temperature of about 60-160 °C, during a reaction period of about 1-25 hours. The product is a polymer having a predetermined ratio of the above repeat units.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production de polymères dérivatisés d'anhydre malique contenant un acide maléamique et ses unités de répétition correspondante d'imide cyclique en solution alcoolique à une température comprise entre environ 60 et 160 DEG C pendant une période de réaction allant d'environ 1 à 25 heures. Le produit est un polymère présentant un rapport prédéterminé des unités de répétition précitées.
