ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The process for making steel and hydraulically active binders uses slags rich in iron oxide, such as steel slag, as oxidizing agent for carbon in pig iron. The slag is reduced, yielding a type of blast furnace slag with improved hydraulic properties.
