The invention relates to a novel process for the manufacture of Carvedilol of high HPLC purity (>99.5 %) having individual impurity less than 0.1 %. The product is isolated from reaction mass as a salt with suitable organic acids which on further purification is converted into the free base i.e., Carvedilol.

L'invention concerne un nouveau procédé permettant la préparation d'un Carvédilol de pureté élevée présentant une haute teneur en HPLC (>99.5%), et une teneur inférieure à 0,1 % en impuretés individuelles. Ce produit est isolé à partir d'une masse réactionnelle au moyen d'acides organiques adéquats, sous forme d'un sel, lequel est converti après purification additionnelle en base libre, ou Carvédilol.
