The present invention relates to a process for manufacturing a shaped article from a composite material comprising a solid filler and a thermoplastic binder, said process comprising the following subsequent steps: (a)feeding a solid filler and a thermoplastic binder to a kneading device; (b)mixing the solid filler and the thermoplastic binder in the kneading device, wherein the pressure exerted on the mixture of the solid filler and the thermoplastic binder is in the range of about 100 kPa to about 1500 kPa to obtain a composite material; (c)forming the composite material as obtained in step (b) into a shaped article; and (d)cooling the shaped article as obtained in step (c), wherein the shaped article is cooled at a cooling rate of at least about 5°C/min to about 120°C/min.. The shaped article is preferably a slab which can very suitable be used in the decoration of floors, kitchen work surfaces, kitchen tops, bathrooms, internal and external cladding and other two-dimensional shapes by extrusion and or injection moulding techniques.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un article formé à partir d'un matériau composite comprenant un matériau de remplissage solide et un liant thermoplastique, ledit procédé comprenant les étapes consécutives suivantes : (a) envoi d'un matériau de remplissage solide et d'un liant thermoplastique vers un dispositif de pétrissage ; (b) mélange du matériau de remplissage solide et du liant thermoplastique dans le dispositif de pétrissage, la pression exercée sur le mélange du matériau de remplissage solide et du liant thermoplastique se trouvant dans la plage comprise entre environ 100 kPa et environ 1 500 kPa afin d'obtenir un matériau composite ; (c) formation du matériau composite tel qu'il est obtenu à l'étape (b) en un article formé ; et (d) refroidissement de l'article formé tel qu'obtenu à l'étape (c), l'article formé étant refroidi à un taux de refroidissement d'au moins environ 5 °C/min à environ 120 °C/min. L'article formé est de préférence une plaque qui peut, de façon très convenable, être utilisée dans la décoration de sols, de plans de travail de cuisine, de plateaux de cuisine, de salles de bains, de gainages internes et externes et d'autres formes en deux dimensions par des techniques de moulage par extrusion et/ou injection.
