63293-2387 A B S T R A C T A process for manufacturing combustible agglomerates, which process comprises the following consecutive steps:- a) heating raw peat at a pressure which is at least equal to the saturation pressure of water at the prevailing temperature unit, a mixture of liquid water and solid material is obtained; b) mechanically separating at least a portion of the water from the solid material obtained in step a); c) forming a intimate mixture comprising solid material retained in step b), water and a bitumen; d) forming agglomerates from the mixture obtained in step c). This process overcomes the difficulties with the known wet- carbonization process, especially the requirement to use expensive extrusion methods for agglomerating the carbonized peat.
