A process for manufacturing continuous polyester filament yam for technical applications from a polymer over 90 % of the chains of which are composed of ethylene terephthalate units, via a one-step spinning process, with the undrawn filaments having a crystallinity smaller than 16 % and the yarn being wound at a rate larger than 6000 m/min. The yarn obtained in this fashion is particularly suitable for use as reinforcing material in rubber articles, notably as reinforcing material in pneumatic tyres for cars. The polyester filament yarn can be used to make cords of uncommonly high dimensional stability and a unique combination of breaking tenacity, shrinkage and breaking toughness.

L'invention se rapporte à un procédé de fabrication d'un fil polyester continu destiné à des applications techniques, à partir d'un polymère, dont plus de 90 % des chaînes sont composées d'unités de térephtalate d'éthylène, selon un processus de filage en une étape, les fils non étirés ayant une cristallinité inférieure à 16 %, et le fil étant enroulé à une vitesse supérieure à 6000 m/min. Le fil obtenu de cette manière est notamment approprié pour être utilisé comme matériau de renforcement dans des articles en caoutchouc, et en particulier comme matériau de renforcement dans les pneus pour véhicules. Ce fil polyester continu peut être utilisé pour fabriquer des câbles d'une stabilité dimensionnelle exceptionnellement haute et présentant une combinaison unique de ténacité à la rupture, retrait et résistance à la rupture.
