The invention provides a process for manufacturing high density boron carbide by pressureless sintering, enabling to create sintered products of complex shapes and high strength. The process comprises mixing raw boron carbide powder with carbon precursor, such as a polysaccharide, compacting the mixture to create an object of the desired shape, and finally carbonizing and sintering the object at higher temperatures.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de production de carbure de bore à haute densité par frittage sans pression, ce qui permet de créer des produits frittés présentant des formes complexes et une grande résistance. Le procédé consiste à mélanger de la poudre de carbure de bore brut avec un précurseur de carbone, tel qu'un polysaccharide, à comprimer le mélange pour créer un objet ayant la forme désirée puis à saturer et à fritter l'objet à des températures plus élevées.
