Abstract The objects of the invention are a process and appliance which ensure that a uniformly good quality of soft-ice can be produced at all times from the same soft-ice starting materials. Such a process is described wherein the liquid mixture is frozen, and the frozen mass (7) placed in the appliance (1) which is then closed gas-tight before the mass is subjected to a positive pressure of gas. The frozen material (7) is then comminuted and thoroughly mixed under gas pressure. Finally, the soft-ice is removed from the appliance. The mix is frozen in its original, liquid form. When soft-ice is to be made, the completely frozen mix is placed in the domestic soft-ice machine in the same container (5). The space in which the soft-ice is to be made is closed off air-tight and gas-tight in order that the gas or air needed to produce the "soft" effect can be introduced at the appropriate moment. There then follows the comminution of the frozen mix by means of the knife (16), which simultaneously provides thorough mixing of the resultant soft-ice. The neces- sary relative movement for this can be achieved equally well via the frozen mix or the tool. Simultaneous movement of mix and tool is also conceivable as a means e.g. of simultaneously intensifying the comminution process and the mixing process. (figure 1)
