A B S T R A C T A method for marking underwater parts of a marine structure by local application of a coating which comprises a vulcanized silicone rubber and a fluorescent pigment onto the outer surface of the structure. Preferably the coating comprises a fluid organic compound which is liquid at the temperature prevailing in sea water.
