A continuous, multi-phase process for microaperturing and microembossing a substantially continuous web (10) of substantially planar polymeric film to conform with the image of multiple forming structures (15, 50), each having a patterned forming surface with a multiplicity of fine- scale apertures and an opposed surface. Each forming structure is open from the apertures in the forming surface to its opposed surface. The web of film has an indefinite length, a first surface, a second surface and a thickness. The thickness is the distance between the first surface and the second surface. The process includes at least two sequential forming phases, one of which involves aperturing of the web of film to coincide with fine-scale apertures in the first forming structure (15) and another of which involves conformance of the web of film to the profile of the fine-scale apertures in the second forming structure (50).

L'invention se rapporte à un procédé continu à plusieurs phases servant à former des micro-trous et des micro-bosses dans une bande (10) pratiquement continue d'un film polymère sensiblement plan afin que celles-ci coïncident avec le motif de plusieurs structures de formage (15, 50), chacune ayant une surface de formage, dont la configuration représente une multiplicité de trous très fin, et une surface opposée. Chaque structure de formage est traversée par les trous, de la surface de formage à sa surface opposée. La bande de film a une longueur indéfinie, une première surface, une seconde surface et une épaisseur. L'épaisseur représente la distance entre la première surface et la seconde surface. Le procédé se compose d'au moins deux phases de formage séquentielles: au cours d'une phase, des trous sont créés dans la bande de film afin qu'ils coïncident avec les trous très fins de la première structure de formage (15), et au cours d'une autre phase, la bande de film est amenée à épouser le profil des trous très fins de la seconde structure de formage (50).
