ABSTRACT Metal sulphide ore is leached by water under a low pressure and oxidizing atmosphere to dissolve zinc and copper, hydrolyze iron to hematite, and leave lead and precious metals as insoluble sulphates. The residue is leached by sodium chloride and calcium chloride to dissolve lead and the precious metals.
